IXWebhosting absolutely sucks!!!! for Ruby on Rails though...
![]() Wasted the entire day today trying to deploy a RoR application of mine... found out that it doesn't allow SSH access... well then how the hell do you deploy RoR apps without Capistrano... and SSH access is a must for Capistrano deployments... it's just dumb and utterly stupid to prevent customers from using industry standards... i am so frustrated and just at the point of exploding... Worst US$100 ever spent... I want my money back...

I have 3 accounts with ixwebhosting & have been generally happy.
However a couple of issues. I have a forum on one account that they have locked the database on twice. The software techs for Invision have gone in there & said the issue is a 24 meg memory limit that ixwebhosting have placed on it when the recommended limit for php5 is 124. I am getting query backups which is causing problems for the others on the shared server & slowing the forum down to a crawl. So its moving to a VPS as we speak (Not ixwebhosting). I will talk to their sales reps & see if they can apply the unused credit to one of our other accounts. |

ixwebhosting,hostexcellence and WebHost, are very bad company! ( they are subsidiaries of ecommence) --- I will keep on posting my bad experiences on other forums includes webhostingtalk, scam, ripoffreport and skepticality, to warn the old customers to leave them, new customers stop to join them.
Here I warn everybody who are old customers or new customers, ixwebhosting and hostexcellence(ecommerce ) their service is bad, do NOT host your site with them, they will suspend your site suddently, no FTP for you, all your data will be lost, and they will not listen to your explain, please see following for other victims I found, their sites also got suspended for different reason, like the site takes too many space, or being hijacked hacked, etc. You will loose all your customers and all your business on one night, they are not reliable at all, their phone call are always busy, LIVE Chat is no use, the live chat will say"sorry I can not help, please submit ticket through your account", and for the ticket you will receive simple words like"sorry we can not reactivate your account". All the 3 companies are playing games with you as they do not listen to you at all. I host my site with them since 2 years ago, but recently my nightmare comes: on Feb 26 2010 I received an email from them saying: Suspension of your hosting product: Suspended as per fraudelent cc number. I am totaly shocked! I explain with them the credit card is mine, by live chat, by submitting the ticket number 1182795 to explain, and sent details of my card, they just refuse to reactive my account, then I take photo of both front and back of my credit card and sent to them, but each time they only say " sorry we can not reactivate your account", to further prove the card belongs to mine, I can send them statement of my credit card, or even want to pay them by bank wire or western union, but they just say NO! I have called them, but they are always busy, busy even waiting for 10 minutes, nobody answers the phone except a machine voice. They told me before they back up my site, so I have not back up my site in my computer, now I lost everything. What a bad company it is! We are family business, now I lost my business! this drive me crazy! if people are not happy being a member to a forum then anybody can transfer to another forum or stop posting ever again.
